Project Commitments
As part of the Milton-Madison Bridge Project’s environmental process and historic Section 106 mitigation, the project team has committed to special activities in Milton and Madison that will be completed throughout the course of the project. You can track the progress of these commitments in the chart below.
Because of the innovative construction strategy that greatly reduces the bridge closure to approximately ten days, several prior project commitments have been revised.
- The planned ferry service has been revised to provide transportation across the river during the closure for emergency responders only.
- The Milton boat ramp will remain open for public use, except during the 10-day closure period, so a temporary ramp in Milton is not needed.
- Based on coordination between INDOT, the Indiana SHPO, the National Park Service‐National Register staff, and consulting parties, the Madison National Register Historic District nomination form will not be updated.
- At this time, the bridge construction is not anticipated to require the use the Madison Campground. INDOT is currently working with the City of Madison to determine what improvements that INDOT will fund for the campground.
