The US 421 Milton-Madison Bridge over the Ohio River is one of only two bridges over the Ohio River between Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio. During the bridge closure, the nearest crossing will be 26 miles upstream at the Markland Locks and Dam Bridge. The Kennedy Bridge in Louisville is 46 miles downstream. During the bridge closure, drivers can use free ferry service to cross between Milton, Ky., and Madison, Ind.

Madison to Louisville I-65 bridge

  1. To IN-56 W
  2. Follow IN-62 W
  3. Continue onto E 10th St
  4. Follow signs to I-65 south.

Madison to Milton via Markland Dam

  1. IN-56 East to Vevay, Ind.
  2. Continue on IN-156 East.
  3. Take IN-101 North across the bridge.
  4. IN-101 becomes State Highway 1039 into Kentucky.
    Take the ramp to US-42West.
  5. Then KY-36 West toward Milton.
